On This Day
Villa earn their fourth point in five games under Vic Crowe as they win for the first time under his leadership to close the gap to safety to two points with a game in hand over their defeated opponents, second from bottom Charlton.
This was Villaโs first win since beating Bolton under Tommy Docherty in November. Since that last victory, Docherty had delivered just a single point in five games before Vic Croweโs arrival.
Recovery from the position Crowe had inherited remained extremely unlikely but at least Villa were now competing again.
Vic Crowe's Villa secure their first win under his stewardship to record one win, two draws and two defeats in his five games and make it five wins, eleven draws and fifteen defeats in thirty one division two matches this season. Despite the win Villa remain adrift at the bottom of the table.
