Villa had signed Neil from Luton Town for £15,000 in 1 July 1969 along with his brother Neil (£100,000).

Neil was born in Paddington on 13 April 1951 and he made his debut appearance for Villa on Saturday, 16 August 1969 aged 18 but that would be one of his only two appearances that season.

Thereafter Neil was mostly used as a back up - making 2 substitute appearances in 1970-71 before another 2 starts the following season, 8 appearances in 1972-73 and 5 the following season.

Neil made his final appearance for Villa on Tuesday, 18 February 1975 aged 23 before moving on to Plymouth Argyle in May 1975 aged 24.
