Villa face second placed Bristol Rovers in the quarter final of the League Cup and scored within a minute despite dreadful conditions at Eastville. Villa should have been two up before Rovers’ first half equaliser but a bizarre offside decision means a Villa Park replay is required.
Vic Crowe's Villa take a first minute lead at Eastville Stadium but Rovers level to force a replay at Villa Park.
What they Said
"The referee shouldn't have disallowed our second goal in the 11th minute.
“He gave off-side when there was a full-back standing on the line.
“It was great to get a goal in the first minute like that.
“Their goalscorer, Stuart Taylor, was lucky. He’ll never hit another volley like that all season.”
Pat McMahon.
“I am very pleased, but Micky Wright, who was carried off with a twisted knee, may not be fit for the FA Cup tie at Torquay on Saturday.”
Vic Crowe.
