George Curtis
Player #550 for Aston Villa, George William Curtis, played as a centre back for the club between 1969-70 and 1971-72 making 58 appearances and scoring 3 goals.
George was born in Dover on 5 May 1939 and he made his debut appearance for Villa on Friday, 26 December 1969 aged 30 under Tommy Docherty.
Within four games of his debut Docherty was gone and new boss Vic Crowe installed who made the £30,000 signing from Coventry City in December 1969 a regular in the side playing 16 of the 20 games to the end of the campaign that saw Villa relegated to the third tier for the first time in their history.
1970-71 saw Curtis make just 11 appearances under Crowe due to injury before making another 27 appearances the following season as he was in and out of the side that finally won promotion back to the second tier.
Curtis made his final appearance for Villa on Monday, 24 April 1972 aged 32 before retiring in July 1972 aged 33.
