Chico Hamilton

Player #540 for Aston Villa, Ian Michael Hamilton known as Chico Hamilton played as a midfielder for the club between 1969-70 and 1975-76 making 250 appearances and scoring 48 goals.

Chico was born in Streatham on 31 October 1950 and he made his debut appearance for Villa on Saturday, 9 August 1969 aged 18.

Villa had signed Chico from Southend United for £40,000 in June 1969 and he proved to be a real crowd favourite.

Chico represented Villa in the third, second and first divisions and was equally comfortable at all levels including winning the League Cup in 1974-75 before his final season in 1975-76 with Ron Saunders’ ultra disciplinarian approach seeing Hamilton make his final appearance for Villa on Saturday, 3 April 1976 aged 25 before moving on to Southend United in July 1976.
