Villa lose for the third time in six League games and second in three as they are beaten at the Shay as they fall four points behind leaders Fulham, three behind Bristol Rovers and share third place with Preston. Villaโs defeat comes at the hands of ex-Villa youth player Billy Atkins whilst Fred Turnbull, on loan at Halifax in 1969-70, scores Villaโs consolation.
Villa face Halifax Town for the first time in competitive football, Halifax become the 103rd team that the Villa first team has played in League or Cup football.
Vic Crowe's Villa lose for the second time in three League games and third time in five to make it nine wins, six draws and four defeats in nineteen division three games so far this season. As a result, Villa fall back to fourth place in Division Three, two points behind leaders Fulham.
