Player #531 for Aston Villa, Brian Tiler played as a centre back for the club between 1968-69 and 1972-73 making 127 appearances and scoring 4 goals.
Brian was born in Whiston, Rotherham on 15 March 1943 and he made his debut appearance for Villa on Thursday, 26 December 1968 aged 25.
Villa had signed Brian from Rotherham United for £33,500 in December 1968 under Tommy Docherty’s fateful regime but he proved a bright spot of recruitment amassing over 125 appearances in his first 4 season as well as in the League Cup final for Villa in 1971.
As Villa rose back to the second tier under Vic Crowe, Tiler made his final appearance for Villa on Saturday, 26 August 1972 before moving on to Carlisle United in the following October aged 29.
Tragically Brian was killed in a car accident aged 47 during Italia 90 that also severely injured Harry Redknapp.
