Vic Crowe's Villa lose their first League game of the season as centre back Brian Tiler made his final appearance aged 29 before moving on to Carlisle United in November 1972. Tiler played for Villa between 1968-69 and 1972-73 making 127 appearances and scoring 4 goals.
