Vic Crowe's Villa lose out to top flight side Everton in the third round of the FA Cup. Meanwhile, Willie Anderson made his final appearance for Villa aged 25 before moving on to Cardiff City for a fee of £60,000 in February 1973. Willie had played for Villa between 1966-67 and 1972-73 making 266 appearances and scoring 44 goals after arriving from Manchester United for £20,000 aged 20 in January 1967.
