Villa deliver a second successive goalless draw but are now unbeaten in three League games for the first time this season as they remain bottom of the second division under Tommy Docherty with six points from twelve games. Villa have failed to score in eight of those games.

Tommy Docherty's Villa fail to win for the eleventh time in twelve League games to make it one win, four draws and seven losses in twelve division two games so far this season. 

Meanwhile, Alan Deakin, making his first league appearance for 10 months, made his final appearance for Villa aged 27 before moving on to Walsall later this month. Alan played for Villa between 1959-60 and 1969-70 making 270 appearances and scoring 9 goals.
