"The second half was desperately contested, the play going somewhat in favour of the home side, who, however had not managed to equalise up to within ten minutes of time."
*The Birmingham Daily Post*

DERBY COUNTY V. ASTON VILLA
In this game at Derby the Derby team played a new forward named Little, from Kirkcudbright. The Villa had the advantage of the wind at starting, but, for all that the home side had the better of the play for some time.
After Derby had failed to score from a free kick -which was awarded them, Logan sent the ball through for the visitors, and at the interval the game stood Aston Villa 1 goal, Derby County 0.
The second half was desperately contested, the play going somewhat in favour of the home side, who, however had not managed to equalise up to within ten minutes of time.
Then Roulston made the score level, and almost immediately afterwards Bloomer put Derby a point ahead. Nothing further was done, and Derby County were thus left successful by 2 goals to 1.
