Walter Evans

Player #69 for Aston Villa, Walter Gwynne Evans played as an outside left for the club. Walter represented Villa between 1890-91 and 1892-93.

Walter was born in Builth Wells, Wales in 1867 and made his debut as a 23 year old on 6th September 1890.

Villa had signed Lewis from Bootle FC and he went on to represent the club on 68 occasions as well as picking up 3 caps for Wales.

Walter proved a regular starter for Villa as the helped the club to one Top 10 and two Top 5 finishes as well as appearing 5 time in the run to the 1981-92 FA Cup final including appearance in the final vs. West Bromwich Albion hosted at Kennington Oval, London.

Walter’s final game came as a 26 year old on 15th April 1893. Walter then moved on to his home town club Builth FC.

Walter played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Walter passed away in his native Builth Wells on 10th May 1897 aged just 30.
