WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS v. ASTON VILLA.
At Perry Barr, before 10.000 spectators. The Wanderers kicked off. After 10 minutes' give and take play the Wanderers rushed the ball the Villa posts.
From a scrimmage Hodgetts equalised, amidst applause. Rose then saved brilliantly twice.
The Wanderers got a second point from a scrimmage.
Dickson equalised.
Johnson scored a third and fourth, and Wood a fifth for the Wanderers.
Half time, Wanderers, five goals ; Villa, two goals.
John Devey scored a third goal for the Villa soon after restarting. The home team, however, had only 10 men. Cowan having injured his ankle in the first half.
Wood scored a sixth goal for the Wanderers, who had slightly the best of the play. Cowan's absence weakening the Villa defence not a little.
