John Baird

John was born in Alexandria, Scotland on 25 February 1870 and made his debut as a 21 year old on 24th October 1891.
Villa had signed John from Kidderminster Harriers and he went on to win the 1893-94 League Championship with Villa whilst not finishing outside the top four in his four seasons with the club.
John played in 29 of Villa’s 30 games in the 1893-94 Championship winning season.
John’s final game for Villa came on the 26th January 1895 aged 24 after which he moved to Leicester Fosse.
John played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.
John passed away after a heart attack in his native Scotland on 31st July 1905 aged just 35.
