Lewis Campbell
Player #66 for Aston Villa, Louis Campbell, known as Lewis Campbell played as a winger for the club in the outside left position. Lewis represented Villa between 1889-90 and 1892-93.
Lewis was born in Edinburgh in April 1864 and made his debut as a 25 year old on 25th January 1890.
Villa had signed Lewis from Hibernian and he went on to represent the club overfour seasons with the club.
Lewis’ most successful season was in 1891-92 when he helped Villa to 4th place finish in the league.
That season Lewis also contributed to the run to the 1981-92 FA Cup final including appearance in the final vs. West Bromwich Albion hosted at Kennington Oval, London.
Lewis’ final game for Villa came as a 28 year old on 6th March 1893.
Lewis had played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.
Lewis then moved on to Burslem Port Vale.
Lewis passed away in his native Scotland in 1938 aged 74.
