QUOTES
"The Aston Villa Eleven, who of late appear to have fallen on evil times."

*The Sporting Life*
Monday, 26 September 1892
BOLTON WANDERERS V. ASTON VILLA.
THE VILLANS AGAIN SEVERELY HANDLED.
The Aston Villa Eleven, who of late appear to have fallen on evil times, appeared at Pike’s Lane, Bolton, on Saturday, before about 10.000 spectators.
The Wanderers right from the start managed to gain a comer, and were within an ace of scoring, but the Villa defence kept up for a long while, but eventually Cassidy slipped between the opposing ranks and scored a splendid goal. This was all the scoring done in the first half, at the end of which the Wanderers led by 1-0.
The Wanderers in the second portion went with great dash, and early on scored, after which the Villa defence seemed to crack entirely. Cassidy put a second goal. and two others following, the midlanders were beaten by five goals to none.
