Bob Chatt
Player #95 for Aston Villa, Robert Samuel Chatt, known as Bob Chatt, played as a forward for the club.
Bob represented Villa for six seasons from1892-93 to 1897-98.
Bob was born in Barnard Castle in August 1870 and made his Villa debut as a 22 year old on 15th April 1893.
Villa had signed Bob from Middlesbrough Ironopolis and he went on to help Villa secure 3 League Championships in 1893-94, 1895-96 and 1896-97 as well as 2 FA Cups in 1894-95, 1896-97.
The latter completing a double for the club.
Bob’s goals were pivotal in helping Villa get to - and stay at - the top in the 1890s.
In the 1894-95 FA Cup Final, Bob scored after 30 seconds, a record which stood for more than a century.
Bob’s final game for Villa came on the 30th April 1898 aged 27 after which he moved on to Stockton FC.
After his retirement from playing football Bob returned to Villa to take up the position of Scout.
Bob played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.
Bob passed away in 1935 aged 65.
