Charlie Hare

Player #80 for Aston Villa, Charles Boyd Hare, known as Charlie Hare played as a forward for the club. Charlie represented Villa for four seasons from 1891-92 to 1894-95.

Charlie was born in Ladywood, Birmingham on 16 March 1870 and made his debut as a 21 year old on 31st October 1891.

Villa had signed Charlie from Birmingham United and he went on to win the 1893-94 League Championship with Villa whilst not finishing outside the top four in his four seasons with the club.

Charlie played in 10 of Villa’s 30 games in the 1893-94 Championship winning season.

Charlie’s final game for Villa came on the 26th January 1895 aged 24 after which he moved to Royal Arsenal.

Charlie played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Charlie passed away in Edgbaston on 10th August 1947 aged 77.
