MATCH TIMELINE

ON THIS DAY

Villa record an eleventh successive victory in all competitions - their best ever run in a single season - as they hammer Manchester United at Old Trafford to make it fifteen wins, five draws and nine defeats in their twenty nine division one games.

Villa had won eleven consecutive games before however that had crossed the double winning seasons of 1896-97 (seven wins) and 1897-98 (four wins).

Meanwhile, full back Freddie Miles played his final game for Villa aged 30 before retiring from football. Freddie made 270 appearances in his eleven seasons with the club winning the 1904-05 and the 1912-13 FA Cups and the 1909-10 League title whilst helping Villa to runners up places on four occasions.
