Charlie Wallace

Player #197 for Aston Villa, Charles William Wallace, known as Charlie Wallace played as a winger for the club in the outside right position.

Charlie represented Villa between 1907-08 and 1920-21.

Charlie was born in Southwick, Sunderland on 20th January 1885 and made his debut for the club as a 22 year old on the 2nd September 1907.

Villa had signed Charlie from Crystal Palace for £500 in May 1907 and he went on to appear 350 times over his 10 seasons with the club.

During his time with the Villa, Charlie won the 1909-10 League title, the 1912-13 FA Cup and the 1919-20 FA Cup.

Charlie played his final game for Villa on 7th May 1921 aged 36 and moved on to Oldham Athletic for £1,000 however he returned to Villa Park as a trainer and was still active at the club when Villa won the FA Cup in 1957.

Charlie had played his entire Villa career under the George Ramsey led Management Committee.

Charlie finally retired in 1960 having been connected with Villa for 53 years and passed away on 7th January 1970 aged 85.
