Player #171 for Aston Villa, Albert Edward Hall, known as Albert Hall played as an outside left for the club.
Albert played for Villa between 1903-04 and 1913-14 making 214 appearances over his 11 seasons with the club.
Albert was born in Stourbridge on 21st January 1882 and made his first appearance for the club as a 21 year old on 19th December 1903.
Villa had signed Albert from Stourbridge FC and during his time with Villa won the FA Cup in 1904-05 having been an ever present including the final hosted at Crystal Palace, London which saw Villa vanquish Newcastle United 2-0 in front of a crowd of 101,117.
Albert also played for Villa 25 times in the 1909-10 title winning season whilst achieving a further 7 top five finishes including 4 runners up finishes in his 11 seasons.
Albert however wouldn’t feature for Villa in their 1912-13 run to more FA Cup glory.
Albert’s final game for Villa came on 15th November 1913 at the age of 31 after which he was sold to Millwall for a then club record of £1,500.
Albert had played his entire Villa career under the George Ramsey led Management Committee.
As with many players of his era, Albert’s career was interrupted by WWI during which he was badly gassed as he served with the 5th South Staffordshire Regiment.
Albert passed away in Stourbridge on 17th October 1957 aged 75.
