Andy McLachlan

Player #241 for Aston Villa, John Andrew McLachlan, known as Andy McLachlan played as a forward for the club.

Andy played for Villa between 1912-13 and 1914-15 making 17 appearances.

Andy was born in Dumfries, Scotland in July 1888 and he made his Villa debut on the 16th September 1912 aged 24.

Villa had signed Andy from Dundee and he was to act as a back up first teamer during the 1912-13 and 1913-14 league campaigns, making 8 appearances in each and helping Villa finish runners up on both occasions.

Andy didn’t however make an appearance for Villa in the FA Cup and so although at the club, did not win the 1912-13 FA Cup.

Andy’s brother Bert McLachlan also played for Villa and he featured in the first team in the 1913-14 season however the two played in the same side on only one occasion - the 1-3 loss to Newcaste United on Saturday, 4 April 1914.

Andy played his final game for Villa, aged 26, on 26th December 1914 - his only game in the 1914-15 season - before returning to play for Dundee.

Andy had played under the George Ramsey led Management Committee.

Andy passed away in Glasgow in 1944 aged 55.
