Harry Hampton is finally able to appear for Villa after the "abritrary", "astounding", "ungenerous" and almost unanimously condemned banning of the Villa centre forward by the Council of the Football Association for the entirety of September.
Hampton's return though doesn't deliver the hoped for change in fortune however as Albion take the points with a highly unfortunate second half own goal from the unwitting Tom Lyons.
Villa fail to score for the third time in six games this season.
Villa failed to score three times across the entire 1912-13 campaign.
As a result Villa make their worst ever start to a League season with one win, two draws and three defeats.
Villa fall back to joint 15th.
