Reg Boyne

Player #250 for Aston Villa, Reginald Boyne, known as Reg Boyne, played as a forward for the club.

Reg played for Villa in the 1913-14 and 1914-15 seasons making 8 appearances.

Reg was born in Leeds on the 16 November 1891 and he made his Villa debut on the 27th December 1913 aged 22 in the 1–0 defeat to Bradford City.

Reg had joined Villa on trial after arriving from New Zealand team Everton FC in August 1913 and was awarded a professional contract in December that year.

Reg made all his Villa appearances in the league, starting 4 games in each of his 2 seasons with the club.

Like many players of the era Reg’s career was interrupted by the Great War and although Reg was still on Villa’s books he would never again represent the club. Reg left in August 1919 for Brentford.

Reg had played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Reg passed away in Auckland, New Zealand on the 10th March 1963 aged 71.
