Biography
Wilfred Littlewood
Player #235 for Aston Villa, Wilfred Albert Littlewood and also known as Bill Littlewood, played as a defender for the club.
Wilfred played for Villa between 1911-12 and 1914-15 making 51 appearances for the club.
Wilfred was born in Aston, less than a mile from Villa Park, in December 1892 and he made his debut appearance for Villa at the age of 19 on the 6th April 1912.
Villa had signed Wilfred from Worcester City in 1910 however it was to be season 1914-15 before Wilfred's Villa career took off - making 34 appearances in the league and 2 in the cup, more than double his contribution over the previous 3 seasons combined.
That was also to be Wilfred's last season with Villa as WW1 interrupted his career.
Wilfred’s final game for Villa came on 28th April 1915 aged just 22.
Wilfred played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.
Wilfred moved on to Wellington town in August 1920 without making a further appearance for Villa.
Wilfred passed away in Lichfield in 1969 aged 77.
