Utterly pitiful scenes as Manchester City target Joe Bache for little short of onfield butchery whilst referee Sant fails to protect the Villa player.
To rub salt into the wounds following one particularly nasty attack sending Bache off the field for treatment, the home side score their only goal.
City had won the League game at Hyde Road in November with a 90th minute penalty award as Villa continue to be unable to catch a break against the Manchester side.
Villa fail to score for the fourth time in five games and seventh time in 25 to extend their League troubles to the Cup as they are beaten in the FA Cup second round.
