Meanwhile, full back Tom Lyons made his final appearance aged 29 before moving on to Port Vale at the end of the season. Lyons had made 238 appearances over his eight seasons with Villa winning the 1912-13 FA Cup and 1909-10 League title as well as finishing runners up on four occasions.
Also appearing for the last time was fellow full back George Hampton after three appearances for Villa aged before moving on to Shrewsbury Town in May 1915.
