Player #196 for Aston Villa, George Henry Tranter, known as George Tranter played as a midfielder for the club in a position then known as a right half.

George played for Villa between 1906-07 and 1913-14.

George was born in Quarry Bank, Brierley Hill, just 13 miles from Villa Park, on 24th February 1886 and made his debut for the club at the age of 21 on the 13 April 1907.

Villa had signed George from Stourbridge FC in January 1905.

George made 174 appearances for Villa over his 7 seasons.

During his time with Villa George won the 1909-10 league title making 28 appearances and the 1912-13 FA Cup where George appeared in the 5-0 4th Round game at Bradford Park Avenue.

George played his final game for Villa on 3rd January 1914 aged 27 when he badly injured his knee after which he retired from football.

George played his entire Villa career under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

George passed away on 18th October 1958 aged 72.
