"On the form displayed no team in England could have stopped the Villa."

ASTON VILLA v. NOTTS COUNTY.
THE CHAMPIONS WIN EASILY.
These teams met at Aston Lower Grounds, Birmingham, before 18,000 spectators. Both elevens were powerful ones, the County substituting Fletcher for Goss at inside right.
The game opened in sensational style, Garraty opening the scoring for the Villa in the first minute, while the game was not a couple of minutes older when Athersmith beat Suter for the second time, amid great enthusiasm.
Even play followed, Notts retaliating pluckily, and eventually Hadley beat George. Cowan scored a third for the champions, and Hadley followed with a second for the County, the visitors being in minority of three goals to two, at half-time.
The home team completely asserted their superiority on the change of ends, Devey and Garraty piloting goals within five minutes after crossing over.
Notts strove to make headway, but without much effect, and coming again, Garraty beat Suter for the sixth time.
On the form displayed no team in England could have stopped the Villa, Notts playing well, but to no purpose. Result:— Aston Villa, six goals; Notts County, two goals.
