Alf Watkins

Player #141 for Aston Villa, Alfred Ernest Watkins, known as Alf Watkins and nicknamed Ernie (and Fred), played as an inside right for the club.

Alf represented Villa in 1899-00.

Alf was born in Llanwnnog, Wales on 26th June 1878 and made his sole appearance for the club as a 21 year old on the 31st March 1900 in the 2-1 away win over Barnsley.

Villa had signed Alf from Leicester Fosse before he moved on to Grimsby Town.

During his time with the Villa, Alf won the 1899-00 League title.

Alf played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Alf passed away following a house fire in Barking on 7th December 1957 aged 79.
