Villa dominating the game, see flank man Arthur Dorrell roughed up and incapacitated for the remainder of the match early in the first half before they lose Tommy Smart completely with injury.
Villa though were not done, and despite being down to 10, dominate the early stages of the second half and score a deserved equaliser.
Tommy Smart returns illadvisedly and incapacitated following the equaliser but he can do nothing to prevent Liverpool immediately retaking the lead and minutes later retires for good.
