Archie Campbell

Player #304 for Aston Villa, Archibald Campbell, known as Archie Campbell, and nicknamed Aussie, played as a centre back for the club.

Archie played for Villa in 1923-24 and 1924-25 making 4 appearances.

Archie was born in Crook on 15 August 1904 and he made his debut appearance for Villa on 15 March 1924 aged 19.

Villa had signed Archie from Spennymoor United in December 1922.

Archie was the nephew of Scotland international and Celtic and Aston Villa player Johnny Campbell who like his nephew would have a fleeting Villa career however Uncle Johnny proved a prolific goalscorer in his all too brief career before returning north of the border.

Archie played his last game for Villa on 14 March 1925 almost a year to the day since his debut before moving on to Lincoln City in August 1925.

Archie had played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Archie passed away in 1980 aged 76.
