Arthur had moved from Birmingham in May 1924 and although he hit a brace on his debut to defeat against Leeds United 2-1 he was to only feature on three further occasions before he moved on to Barnsley in May 1925.

Arthur had played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Arthur passed away in 1979 aged 77.
