On This Day
George Stephenson scores a final day brace to make it six goal involvements in four games as Villa end the season with three wins from four games in what is their best run of the campaign.
Villa finish the season joint 14th, level on points with Sheffield United and classified 15th.
Villa's 15th placed finish is their join lowest ever League placing with the 1900-01 campaign and represents their worst return in 33 seasons.
Villa had stood 7th at Christmas before an unprecedented injury crisis that ran for the entirety of the final five months of the campaign left Villa unable to play at full strength.
Often missing four and five first teamers some matches saw Villa without seven and even 10 players who would otherwise be pulling on the claret and blue jersey.
Needless to say with such onfield disruption Villa could never play a settled side and wayward form inevitably followed.
Villa end 1924-25 with thirteen wins, thirteen draws and sixteen defeats in their forty two division one games.
