Player #299 for Aston Villa, Samuel Edward Bowen, known as Teddy Bowen played as a full back for the club.
Teddy played for Villa between 1923-24 and 1933-34 making 203 appearances across his 11 seasons with the club.
Teddy was born in Hednesford, just 17 miles from Villa Park on 17 November 1903 and he made his debut appearance for Villa on 5 January 1924 aged 20.
Villa had signed Teddy from Hednesford Town in August 1923.
Teddy made 40 appearances over his first three seasons with the club with 1924-25 seeing the majority of his starts as Villa finished a lowly 15th in the table.
Thereafter he was a regular first teamer making 25 appearances or more every season between 1926-27 and 1930-31.
From the following season however Teddy lost his status as a regular first team player and made just 8 appearances over his final 3 seasons at Villa Park although by that point he had already accumulated 195 starts for the club.
Teddy was part of the Villa sides that twice finished League runners up, however greater success eluded him as it did the club over this transition period.
Teddy had played under both the George Ramsay and Billy Smith led Management Committees.
Teddy passed away in Stafford on 4th March 1981 aged 77.
