Villa lose to a Cardiff side who are reduce to ten men through injury after 50 minutes and are forced to play with nine for the final twenty.
Tommy Cummings' Villa fail to score for the second time in four games and lose for the first time in five to make it eight wins, two draws and eleven defeats in twenty one League games so far this season. Villa had now lost for the nineteenth time in their last thirty one games, this time managing to do so against a Cardiff side that was reduced to nine men for the last 18 minutes of the match.
Meanwhile, full back Barry Ansell made his one and only appearance for Villa aged 20 after joining from school football in 1965. Ansell would move on to non-League football in 1969.
