Villa swooped on West Ham to bring Tony to Villa Park aged 24 with the hope of recreating his successful partnership with Phil Woosnam who Villa had signed in November 1962.
At 33 however Woosnam was coming to the end of his career and by the season end the partnership was broken.
Tony stuck around for another season before moving on to Torquay United.
Tony made his final appearance for Villa on Saturday, 16 September 1967 aged 26 before moving on to Torquay United in September 1967 for a fee of £5,000 aged 26.
