Player #505 for Aston Villa, John Murdock MacLeod, known as Johnny MacLeod, played as an outside right for the club.
Johnny played for Villa between 1964-65 and 1967-68 making 140 appearances and scoring 18 goals.
Johnny was born in Edinburgh on 23 November 1938 and made his debut appearance for Villa on Saturday, 5 September 1964 aged 25,
Villa had signed Johnny from Arsenal for a fee of £40,000 on 1 September 1964 and from his debut he was a virtual ever present in the Villa first team for the next 4 seasons.
Despite his efforts Johnny’s time with the club saw Villa spend 3 seasons in the bottom 6 of Division One before inevitably succumbing to relegation to the second division in the 1967-68 season.
Johnny played for much of the Division Two season in 1967-68 before playing his final game for Villa on Saturday, 27 April 1968 aged 29 after which he moved on to KV Mechelen in Belgium in July 1968.
Johnny had played under Villa managers Dick Taylor and Tommy Cummings.
