Villa suffer a defeat as large as it is unexpected as Preston hit them for six to make it seven wins, a draw and three defeats in eleven division one games.
Villa 0-3 behind in 17' lose goalkeeper Sam Hardy and Clem Stephenson for the second half. Midfielder Andy Ducat takes over goalkeeping duties whilst Clem remains on the pitch but unable to contribute.
Ducat is eventually beaten three times from the 73' before Billy Walker scores a consolation for his fourteenth goal in the opening eleven games of 1920-21.
Villa fall to 2nd in the table one point behind new leaders Everton.
