Billy Walker scores for the twentieth time this season as Villa record a first win in six and only their second victory in twelve to end 1920 on a relative high note.
Villa make it ten wins, four draws and eight defeats in twenty two division one games.
Villa field their third different goalkeeper in three games as Ed Wright takes over from the previous game's unfortunate debutant Spiers who in turn had replaced Jim Lee after the reserve 'keeper conceded eight in two games.
Villa climb slightly to joint 8th but are now seven points off leaders Burnley with their title challenge over before the year ends.
Villa had spent most of August, September, October and November at the top of the table with a seventh title win under George Ramsay looking on the cards.
Goalkeeper Ed Wright made his Villa debut aged 18 after moving from High Wycombe in May 1919.
