Arthur was born in Edgbaston, just 5 miles from Villa Park, on 7th July 1900 and he made his debut appearance for Villa on the 13th September 1919 aged 19.

Villa had signed Arthur from Evesham FC and all his appearances came in the League.

Arthur played his last game for Villa in the 1921-22 season aged 21, on the 24th September 1921, his only appearance of the season and his first since the 1919-20 season.

Arthur played under the George Ramsay led Management Committee.

Arthur passed away in Birmingham in 1955 aged 55.
