Dariusz Kubicki makes his 25th appearance in a Villa shirt to make it W10 D7 L8 so far in his Villa career.
What they Said
"Villa could easily have won by a much more impressive margin as they controlled the pace of the game."
BATTLING Aston Villa called all the shots to knock out FA Cup holders Tottenham in their third round replay at White Hart Lane last night.
A desperately untidy goal in the 10th minute, which Dwight Yorke will claim as his 11th of the season but which television evidence suggested as an own goal by the unlucky Paul Allen, divided the two teams.
Villa's vital goal which condemned Spurs to their eighth home defeat of the season came when goalkeeper Erik Thorstvedt was totally deceived by a deflection from a corner.
Yorke drove the loose ball at goal and Allen could only help it into an empty net.
But Villa could easily have won by a much more impressive margin as they controlled the pace of the game. Villa's Garry Parker went agonisingly close when his shot was hacked off the line by Spurs' skipper Gary Mabbutt soon after the break. Spurs launched a frantic finish but Daley, with a header over the top when well placed from Yorke's clever cross, spurned another good chance.
