At Perry Barr, before 7,000 spectators. After a period of considerable pressure on the home lines Spikesley got through and scored with a splendid shot.
Shortly after John Cowan did likewise, Devey providing him a with good opening.
Score at half time : Aston Villa, one goal; Sheffield Wednesday, one goal.
On resuming, the visitors pressed, but could not score.
The Villa forced then a brace of corners, and Devey notched another point for his side. Until the finish game was continued in visitors' quarters, the Villa having several narrow shaves. Final Score : Aston Villa ... 2, Sheffield Wednesday … 1.
