Aston Villa v. Stoke
The Villa won the toss, and Maxwell started for the visitors before. 14,000 spectators. Fast, but even play followed the kick off, and at length, from good pass by Burton, Chatt scored a beauty, and ere a minute had passed Campbell scored again from judicious centre from Athersmith. Shortly afterwards Schofield was injured, and retired, just upon half-time Dixon scored for Stoke.
Half-time score: Aston Villa, two goals; Stoke, one goal.
On resuming, John Cowan made a good run, his final shot hitting Robertson, who had fallen back into goal, and the ball rebounded into the nat.
Campbell shortly after received a nice pass, and added another for the Villa.
The home team was now having all the best of matters, and Campbell again beat Crawley. The Villa pressed to the finish but Maxwell broke away, and scored for Stoke. Final Score : Aston Villa 5, Stoke 2.
