What they Said
"In the second half the game was finely contested, and for a time the Albion held a slight advantage. After this, however, the Villa pressed, Crabtree playing a magnificent game at half-back. His defence on each side was far too good for the attack, and fee game ended: Aston Villa 1 goal, West Bromwich Albion 0 goal."
ASTON VILLA v. WEST BROMWICH ALBION.
Played at Perry Barr last evening, in fine weather, before nearly 20,000 people. Playing down the slope in the first half the Villa had the best of the game, and Devey scored for them after ten minutes’ play. After this the visitors missed some good chances, while their goal also had narrow escapes. At half-time the Villa led one goal to nil.
