What a game, for all the wrong reasons. A nailed on away win to take Villa 3rd turned into a 0-2, two shots on goal defeat. Don’t believe the hype though, only one team played football, only one team showed adventure and invention and that team left pointless. Forest, using up their good fortune for the rest of the decade used their physicality and disciplined positioning to huge effect. Not least on hitting the deck from 1’ to 96’ in pitiful fashion. On another day the punishment would have been eye watering for them, as it was the joke was on the other foot. 5th place will have to do, who’d have thought we’d be saying that 14 months on from a 1-1 draw here under the former manager. Funny old game football.

MATCHDAY QUOTES
“We started the match very poor but we reacted well, we had chances and opportunities to score," said Emery.
"The players fought until the last minute. Of course it is hard to lose, but we have to accept it.
"We made two mistakes early in each half and it is difficult to come back. We have to be stronger defensively away if we want to get to be one of the top seven teams in the Premier League.
"I learn when we are winning, I learn when we draw and I learn when we are losing.
"It is one year since I arrived here. We have progressed, done a lot of work and I am proud of the players, but I want more. To increase the level is the next challenge I have."
Unai Emery, post match.
