"It's huge because of how we started the group. Tonight was a must win. We didn't play well in the first half.

"We left it far too late but I suppose all that matters is the three points. I'm delighted we finally got them at the end. But we need to improve.

"It says a lot. There's pressure on us to win. We need to be playing better - we know that - but we eventually got there. We showed patience, there was a delicious ball from Cashy and thankfully I managed to get my head on it.

"It meant a lot. My career has been an incredible journey. To score Villa's first goal in European group stage football after what me and the club have been through is a great feeling."

"To win like that is amazing. The emotion just explodes in every supporter, every player and it's the same for the coach. Football needs that emotion.

"I decided after the first half to make changes, to add some experience and raise the level. We needed to push harder. We created chances and though we weren't efficient, eventually we got the goal."
