MATCHDAY QUOTES
"We want to play every minute here and to enjoy it. We want to be competitive, to learn and build our team with the players. I am very happy because this three points today is because every player involved - those in the starting XI or on the bench - helped us with good impact.
"Today was a difficult match like every one is. We played very well, created chances and didn't concede a lot in our box. But we didn't score [in the first half].
"We had chances to score and we didn't take those chances. We conceded at the beginning of the second half and we weren't playing in the second half like I want.
"We played a lot [of other matches] like today and were winning in the first 20 or so minutes.”
We said at half-time to keep going and controlling the game like we were doing. They have a very good team and good players and they did that transition and scored the goal. Then it was a difficult moment.
"We were playing more with our hearts than with our minds in the last 20 minutes and sometimes you need that. At the end we deserved to win. We scored three goals so I'm very happy because after their goal it was a difficult moment and we really reacted very well.
"I respect always the VAR decision so I was waiting.
"Jhon Duran is young but he has potential. We have to work with him, give him chances and minutes to take confidence and build experiences. Every minute he's playing is important for him and he's helping us, like with the goal he scored today.
"We decided as well for Douglas Luiz to practice penalty kicks at the training ground. When there are matches like today with a penalty, he is feeling good and confident. We have other players as well who can take them.
"The most important is to try to be responsible and mature, collectively and individually. The players who were on the bench, they have to be ready because we need the impact like today. The impact was amazing.
"We want to be competitive, we want to be strong in our mind trying to build a strong mentality, a winning mentality. Each match is very difficult but I want to face it and every competition being competitive and trying to be a contender in our own way this year.
"The Premier League is the most important and today was, of course, the result, but also some players and tactical decision I took today was a practice for us. For the 30 minutes we played Diaby on the left side, played Kamara as a midfielder and sometimes as a right centre-back in build-up.
"We were aware today that we wanted to win but we needed to use different tactical decisions. I was aware to give them confidence so they could take it.
"Today was a very different match with like the match that we played before. This is the tenth match in a row we are winning at home in all competitions but today was completely different.”
Unai Emery.
"We hoped to be really strong at home. In the Premier League you need to be strong at home. We are creating a winning mentality at home.
"We couldn't score in the first half but we kept going forward and won at the end of the day. No matter what happens in the game I need to keep my team in the game, that's my job.
"But I knew we were going to score. That was a hit to be fair! Jhon [Durán] is growing in confidence and you can see that today."
Emiliano Martínez.
