Arsenal extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points over Villa but have just three games remaining compared to Villa's six. Even if Villa win all their remaining six, Arsenal would have to lose two of their remaining games for Villa to take the title.
Barring a disastrous run to the end of the season however, the runners up spot should be secure for Villa.
Up next for Villa is fourth placed Newcastle in a double header over consecutive days.
