Jack Mandley

Player #338 for Aston Villa, John Mandley, known as Jack Mandley, and nicknamed Potter, played as a winger for the club in the outside right position.

Jack played for Villa between 1929-30 and 1933–34 making 112 appearances and scoring 27 goals.

Jack was born in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent on 2 February 1909 and made his debut appearance for Villa on the 15 March 1930 aged 21.

Villa had signed Jack from home-town club Port Vale for a fee of £7,000.

Jack had his best goalscoring seasons in 1930-31 and and 1932-33 with 8 goals in 32 and 25 league games respectively, helping Villa finish as runners-up on both occasions.

However, In August 1934, still only 25, Jack moved to Altrincham having played his final game for Villa on 6 January 1934 aged 24.

Jack had played under the Billy Smith led Management Committee.

Jack passed away in Bucknall, Stoke-on-Trent on 18th December 1988 aged 79.
